Da Vinci Code

*sigh* I was reading a website about thoughts about the Da Vinci Code, and while I tried to post my comment there, the log was not accepting entries so I wanted to post it somewhere, so I will post it here...

This book is wonderfully written.
And yes, I acknowledge that while it will never be proven or disproven, one thing I have never done is follow blindly into what people tell me to believe.
I know what I was taught, and with that knowledge I ask questions and demand answers if my opinions are to be changed. However; the thing that annoys me is when I go to the 'religious leaders' of the community, and I have gone to several throughout my life of different denominations, and ask my questions and the person who is supposed to be 'teaching' me, answers with either 'don't ask questions that go against your faith' or they tell me that 'you do not need to know that information, you believe as your are told'.
So I read books and research and use my head and heart so I can be comfortable in my beliefs and know what I believe to be true.
After all, if nothing else can be proven from the book, 1 statement is infact VERY true. The bible was not faxed from heaven. It was originally written by man, and has been translated by man throughout the ages, and I have never believed that man is infalible, or that pages don't get lost or misplaced or even mistranslated. And it us up to each individual person who reads it to interpret it in their own way and to form their own beliefs from not only what is written but also from their own life experiences.
That is after all one of the things that makes each person individual.
